Ernst Fuchs Museum in Vienna at Otto Wagner’s Villa

My Experience at the Ernst Fuchs Museum in Vienna

If you love art, architecture and a bit of crazy fantasy – then the Ernst Fuchs Museum in Vienna will be a discovery for you. It is located in the legendary villa of Otto Wagner, one of the most beautiful examples of Viennese Art Nouveau.

I got here completely by accident, but the impression is for a lifetime. From the first steps inside, it seems as if I have found myself in a parallel world: interiors, colors, sculptures, even small details – everything is permeated with the style of Fuchs, the founder of fantastic realism.

What impressed me the most

– Ernst Fuchs’ paintings and graphics, which cannot be confused with others;
– deep shadows and bright colors of the interiors, reminiscent of a dream or a fairy tale;
– furniture and objects created by the artist himself;
– the atmosphere of the house, which is difficult to describe in words – it has to be felt.
To be honest, you won’t understand everything you see here right away. But that’s what makes the museum so interesting – it surprises, shocks and fascinates at the same time.

Why it’s worth a visit

I managed to run around with my camera almost before closing, so I’m already looking at the details in the photos..

Therefore, if you’re in Vienna, I advise you to definitely make time for the Ernst Fuchs Museum. Even if you’re not a fan of his work, the atmosphere of this villa is worth seeing.
